“Disco Fever!”

Men's Disco PantsIt’s Saturday night in 1977 and you are at your favorite disco club anxious to get your groove on. You are wearing bell bottom pants with a shiny sequined shirt, unbuttoned half way down your chest, of course.  You are standing tall in your favorite 4″ platform shoes and loving your new sideburns!

The lights are dim, the disco ball starts turnin’ and you look across the room and see Sexy Women's Disco Costumeyour favorite disco girl. She’s wearing a tie-dye jumpsuit with bell sleeves and bottoms.  With those sexy go go boots and her beautiful feathered hair, she’s irresistible.  As the DJ starts playing “You Should Be Dancing” by the Bee Gees…you think that sexy girl looks like she has “disco fever”!  So you start walking towards her, passing by the afro hair styles, the hippie girls and leisure suits.

Disco Sleezeball CostumeYou finally reach her just as a disco sleazeball tries to make his move.  But, you pull her onto the dance floor just before he has his chance to steal her away.

The two of you are gettin’ your groove on to “Stayin’ Alive” as John Travolta steps in and asks your girl to dance with him in the dance contest!  …WAIT…John Travolta!?  As John turns to look at you, you notice he looks more like your best friend Bob!  The Saturday Night Fever Costumemusic changes to Abba “Dancing Queen” and you realize it’s not 1977…it’s 2010 and you are runnin’ down memory lane at a Halloween party.  But, you can still get your groove on!

The 1970′s is, without a doubt, a very memorable decade.  The 70′s were full of big political events, like the Watergate Scandal and great movies including “The Godfather” and “Star Wars”, which turned out to be just the beginning.  But, for many, the best part of the 70′s was the birth of Disco!

Fashion in the 1970′s was very distinct and funky, including tight bell bottoms, bright sequined shirts, platform shoes, side burns and Afros.  However, in 1977 when the movie “Saturday Night Fever” with John Travolta came out, 70′s fashion was stamped forever with Disco Music.

Disco is “Stayin’ Alive” this Halloween or for any retro party throughout the year!  1970′s fashion has always been a great way to trigger a trip down memory lane.  With bell bottom pants, shiny sequined shirts, platform shoes and sideburns, it will be easier than ever to get on the dance floor when the disco ball starts turning and the DJ puts on “Stayin’ Alive”!

Your kids can get in on the fun and retro action too.  With child disco costumes, hippie costumes, flower child costumes and even KISS costumes, it will be even more fun to teach them about the 70′s.
